Privilege

When my twins were younger and even while in high school they would ask permission to pick up additional extras from the grocery store. Or else they would wait until I asked them if they wanted something. Not this one. He just goes in full throttle and makes announcements, “Let me get some of these drumsticks!” He doesn’t ask permission or anything. Just picks out what he wants and adds it to the basket. I just giggle silently and muse at the differences in the personalities. Bold faith is what I prefer to call it instead of spoiled. What can I say? Being the last Lemon drop at home has its privileges.

Surely this isn’t real?! Someone posted this on social media as a display in a supply store. Bulletproof backpacks? Is this real? Is this really a thing? This breaks my heart. If this is the new reality of how people see our schools today, this is sad for everyone. This shows our heightened fear and vulnerability. How can babies be excited about learning at school if this is now part of back to school preparedness? 😢 The impact of school shootings. Infinite fear, heartache, and trauma.

Inconvenient Safety

The car I drive was manufactured in 2007. Do the math. Also remember that I have 2 kids in college. So yeah....there are no car upgrades in mommy’s future any time soon. Nevertheless, we received a notice in the mail about important safety recall information regarding the airbags. Arrghhh...am I the only one who loathes these recalls? Not because I’m concerned about any imminent dangers. But honestly because I really don’t like the inconvenience of scheduling service appointments, cleaning my car out, being without a car (even temporarily), etc. Remember, this is a judgement free zone.

Welp! My beloved Golden State Warriors didn’t pull off a 3 peat. Maybe this little Vanderbilt inspired gem I brought home from my week in Omaha earlier this month will bring some luck to my preferred team to win this year’s College World Series. Please forgive the lack of makeup and unkept flower bed. This is me enjoying the non-lazy days of summer. #GoCommodores!
